Centre of Assisted Reproduction: "Life begins with us"
During this consultation, the physician will fill out an application for the IVF cycle to be approved by the insurance company. Approval of the application takes about 1 month.
During this visit, your doctor will prepare a stimulation protocol customized to your needs, we will dispense the medication, and the nurse will instruct you about how to apply these medications.
Based on the information from your protocol and the doctor's instructions, you will undergo ultrasound check-ups, at which the doctor monitors the number of mature follicles and their diameter, and, also, sets the exact date for the oocyte pick up.
On a given day, the physician performs an ultrasound guided puncture or an aspiration of the follicles using a thin needle which goes through the vaginal wall. The patient is under general anaesthetic during the egg collection (5-10 minutes). After that, it takes 2-3 hours to recover and, if stable, the patient can go home.
On the day of egg retrieval, the partner needs to submit a sperm sample. In order to improve the quality of the sample, it is recommended to maintain two to three days of sexual abstinence.
This is the process of fertilization of an egg by the sperm. In case of a good partner's sperm analysis, the method of conventional in-vitro fertilization is used. If the sperm quality or number is lower, the ICSI method is used for fertilization.
The resulting embryos are cultivated in special incubators designed to mimic the natural environment in a woman's body as much as possible. The embryos are cultivated for 2 to 6 days, during which their development is monitored. Information on current embryo developments is provided daily on our hotline.
This is a painless transfer of the highest quality embryo or embryos into the woman´s womb. The embryo cultivation period, and therefore the embryo transfer day, is determined by the physician and embryologist.
14 days after the embryo transfer you are instructed to take a pregnancy test (from morning urine) and let us know the result. If you do the test earlier and it is negative, it may be the inability of the test to currently capture the low levels of HCG.
Positive Pregnancy Test: Congratulations! Please continue taking all prescribed medications and, after 14 days from the positive pregnancy test, schedule an OBGYN visit for an ultrasound check up.
Negative pregnancy test: If you do not bleed, repeat the urine test in 2 days. Even with a negative result it is appropriate to confirm it by drawing blood (at the clinic or at your gynaecologist).
This is a method offering the possibility to preserve (freeze) all the other high-quality embryos for the future use.
embryonic development, embryo quality, frequently asked questions
Thanks to the acquisition of the most advanced technology laser, we have introduced the pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) of embryos in cooperation with the largest genetic laboratories in the Czech Republic, GENNETD. For testing we use the ACGH (Array Comparative Genomic Hybridization) method that allows the selection and subsequent transfer of only genetically normal embryos, thus increasing significantly the success rate of IVF treatment.
The testing is fully covered by health insurance after previous assessment of clinical genetics. It is a very gentle method that incurs no risk to the development of the future foetus.
PGD is not only suitable for couples with identified genetic diseases but also for couples who have undergone several unsuccessful IVF treatments.
